Itinerary

Day 1Sandakan – Selingan Turtle Island

(8:30  am — ideally)

Meet at your hotel in Sandakan and transfer to the jetty for a 1-hour boat ride to Selingan Island, part of Turtle Islands Park. Upon arrival, check in to your chalet and enjoy some free time—relax by the beach or take a swim in the calm waters.

In the evening, a ranger will guide you to witness a mother turtle laying eggs, the transfer of eggs to hatcheries, and, if you’re lucky, the release of hatchlings to the sea. This conservation-based encounter is a rare and memorable experience

Day 2Sepilok Orangutan - Kinabatangan River Safari

After breakfast, return by boat to Sandakan. Upon arrival, visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to observe the morning feeding session and learn about ongoing conservation work. After lunch, travel overland to the Kinabatangan River (approx. 2 hours). Check in to your riverside lodge and head out on a sunset river cruise to spot proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and possibly wild orangutans or pygmy elephants.

Day 3Return to Sandakan

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge before checking out. Transfer back to Sandakan and drop off at the airport or your hotel.
