Itinerary

Day 1Lahad Datu — Borneo Rainforest Lodge (Danum Valley) — Night Safari

Begin your journey with a scenic 2.5-hour drive from Lahad Datu Airport to the exclusive and award-winning Borneo Rainforest Lodge, nestled deep within the pristine Danum Valley. Upon arrival, enjoy a warm welcome, followed by a personalized check-in and an introductory presentation on the wonders of the rainforest. Later, take a serene stroll along the nature trail leading to the canopy walkway, offering breathtaking views above the jungle canopy. In the afternoon, embark on a guided walk along the tranquil Segama River. After a gourmet dinner at the lodge, elevate your experience with an optional night drive to encounter the elusive nocturnal wildlife of the rainforest.

Day 2Canopy Walkway — Nature Trail — Night walk

Start the day with a dawn walk to the canopy walkway, where mist blankets the forest and hornbills may be seen gliding through the treetops. Return for breakfast before embarking on a trek to the ancient Kadazandusun burial site the Coffin Trail — followed by a refreshing dip at the nearby waterfall. After dinner, head out for a night walk in search of nocturnal wildlife.

Day 3Rafting — Nature Trails

Begin the day with a guided trek through lush rainforest to a panoramic viewpoint, offering sweeping views over the Danum Valley canopy. Along the way, visit an ancient Kadazandusun burial site, a culturally rich and sacred landmark. After returning to the lodge, enjoy a well-deserved lunch followed by a rejuvenating afternoon — float gently down the Segama River on a tubing experience, or simply unwind on your private veranda. As dusk falls, embark on an optional night safari in search of rare nocturnal wildlife under the stars.

Day 4Waterfalls & Sunset Safari

Ease into the day with a slow, peaceful morning surrounded by the rainforest’s morning chorus. After breakfast, choose between a guided photography walk along wildlife-rich trails or an invigorating trek to a secluded jungle waterfall. In the late afternoon, ascend to Coffin Cliff for a dramatic view of the rainforest at sunset — a breathtaking finale to your adventure. After dinner, head out for a final night safari to seek out the rainforest’s elusive nocturnal residents.

Day 5Borneo Rainforest Lodge (Danum Valley) — Lahad Datu

Enjoy a tranquil morning in the heart of the rainforest. After breakfast, take your time to relax or capture a few final photographs before check-out.

You’ll then depart on a scenic overland journey back to Lahad Datu. We recommend taking Malaysia Airlines flight MH3019, departing at 4:00 PM to Kota Kinabalu — the perfect way to end your stay with comfort and ease.
