Itinerary

Day 1Kota Kinabalu – Maragang Hill – Kundasang

(5.30 am – ideally)

Depart early from Kota Kinabalu and head to Kundasang for the Maragang Hill hike (approx. 3–4 hours round trip). The trail takes you through misty mossy forest with rewarding views of Mount Kinabalu at the top. After the hike, transfer to Kinabalu Park. Check in and rest for the night.

Day 2Kinabalu Park – Panalaban Base Camp (3,272m)

After breakfast, head to Kinabalu Park Headquarters for registration and meet your mountain guide. From there, transfer to Timpohon Gate (1,866m) and begin your ascent through lush montane forest, passing scenic rest stops like Carson Waterfall and Layang-Layang. The hike takes approximately 5 to 7 hours, leading you to Panalaban (3,272m), where you’ll settle in for the night.
If you would like to participate in the Via Ferrata activity, attend the mandatory safety briefing and familiarization session in the late afternoon — 3.30 pm

Day 3Summit – Descent – Return to Kota Kinabalu

Start your summit push around 2:00 AM, reaching Low’s Peak (4,095m) in time for a breathtaking sunrise. After enjoying the spectacular views, descend to the Via Ferrata starting point by 6:30 AM if you are participating in the Walk the Torq (WTT) activity—only for those who attended the mandatory briefing the day before.

After completing the Via Ferrata or descending directly, return to your hut for a well-deserved breakfast. Then continue your descent to Timpohon Gate, where a vehicle will transfer you back to Kinabalu Park HQ. From there, begin your return journey to Kota Kinabalu.
