Itinerary

Day 1Kinabalu Park – Pendant Hut (3,272m)

At 6.30 am meet at your hotel lobby in Kota Kinabalu transferred to Kinabalu National Park, after the registration and collect your climbing ID, you’ll be transferred to Timpohon Gate (1,866m), the starting point of your ascent. The trek to Panalaban spans 6 km and typically takes 4 to 6 hours, depending on pace. Along the way, you’ll pass through ever-changing forest zones and encounter unique mountain flora, including orchids and pitcher plants. Upon arrival at Pendant Hut, check in and rest before attending the mandatory Via Ferrata familiarization and safety briefing. With the summit climb ahead, you’ll turn in early for the night.

Day 2Summit Attempt – Via Ferrata (LPC) – Descent – Kota Kinabalu

Your summit push begins in the early morning hours, with a 2:00 AM start. Equipped with a headlamp and guided by your mountain guide, you’ll ascend the granite slopes toward Low’s Peak (4,095m), aiming to reach the summit by sunrise — a breathtaking reward after the challenging climb.

After taking in the spectacular views, you’ll descend to the 7.5 km point to meet your Via Ferrata trainer and begin the Low’s Peak Circuit (LPC) — an intermediate-level via ferrata route (French grade AD) that takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. This thrilling adventure takes you along narrow ledges, steel rungs, hanging bridges, and vertical drop-offs, offering unmatched views and an adrenaline-pumping experience high on the mountain face. Please note: climbers who miss the cut-off time will not be permitted to join the via ferrata.

Once completed, you’ll return to Pendant Hut for a well-earned breakfast and receive your Via Ferrata certificate. The descent back to Timpohon Gate takes about 4 to 5 hours. Upon arrival, you’ll transfer to Kinabalu Park HQ for a late lunch and certificate collection before making your way back to Kota Kinabalu.
