When you decide to come to Borneo rainforest, the first place that should have in your list to visit is the Kinabatangan River. At the length of 560 kilometers it is the second longest river in Borneo! Having such vast landscape this makes Kinabatangan River a center of wildlife biodiversity. Visits to the Kinabatangan would never failed guests to experience these top five primate species that make this basin their notable home, among which are the Borneo pygmy elephant, the orangutan, the proboscis monkey, the Bornean gibbon and the langurs.

Most of tourism activities in Kinabatangan, focus around Sukau and Bilit area. These locations are accessible both by road and river to the accommodations at the lower Kinabatangan. Resort and lodges here, ranges from budgeted cabins to a more luxurious stay, to meet the every type of guests traveling needs. It is well-worth to stay a minimum of two nights for better wildlife sighting experiences. Stays at these lodges, include activities of river cruises, nature trail and night walk for potential wildlife sightings.

Kinabatangan River is home to more than 200 species of birdlife, which is haven for keen bird-watchers. Commonly seen here are the brahminy kite, crested serpent eagle, long-tailed parakeet, kingfishers and all eight species of hornbills found in Borneo are some of the possible sightings at Kinabatangan.

Throughout the stay all guests will be guided with a local guide, ever ready to point out for the guests of sighted wildlife and plants at the rain forest during on the walks and river cruises. Some of the lodges provides a self-guided booklet, reading materials, wildlife sighting log-book, to fill up guests down time as river cruises happens twice daily one an early dawn cruise and a late afternoon safari. Nature walks, usually are either after lunch and after dinner. Strategically located by the river bank, these lodges are often visited by unexpected curious wildlife coming towards the common area starring at the fellow patrons.
