Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kinabalu Park

6.30 am meet at your hotel and traverse up the Crocker Range, enjoy the beutiful countryside view. Your adventure begins with arrival at Kinabalu Park HQ in the early morning for registration and climbing permit collection. From there, you’ll be transferred to Timpohon Gate (1,866m), the starting point of your ascent. The trek to Pendant Hut at 3,272 meters typically takes 4 to 6 hours, passing through lush montane forest, cascading waterfalls, and unique alpine flora. Upon reaching Pendant Hut, settle into your dorm-style accommodation and take time to rest and soak in the cool mountain atmosphere. At 3:30 PM, attend the mandatory Via Ferrata familiarization and safety briefing, led by certified trainers. Dinner is served at the hut, followed by an early lights-out to prepare for the climb ahead.

Day 2Summit Hike – Via Ferrata (WTT/LPC) – Pendant Hut (3,272m)

Wake up before dawn to attempt the summit of Mount Kinabalu (4,095m). Equipped with a headlamp and guided by your mountain guide, begin your ascent around 2:00 AM, aiming to reach the peak in time for sunrise — a truly unforgettable moment above the clouds. After taking in the panoramic views, descend to the Via Ferrata starting point. Depending on your booking, you’ll begin either the Walk the Torq or the Low’s Peak Circuit via ferrata — both requiring climbers to reach the starting point by the cut-off time of 6:30 AM. After completing the via ferrata route, return to Pendant Hut for a well-earned breakfast and some much-needed rest. The remainder of the day is yours to relax, explore nearby trails, or simply enjoy the peaceful mountain setting. Overnight at Pendant Hut.

Day 3Pendant Hut – Descent – Kota Kinabalu

If weather or conditions prevented your summit attempt the day before, this morning offers a second chance to reach Low’s Peak. Otherwise, enjoy a slow and easy morning, with time to rest, reflect, and pack. After breakfast, check out and begin your descent back to Timpohon Gate, a journey of approximately 4 to 5 hours. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to Kinabalu Park HQ for a late lunch and certificate collection before returning to Kota Kinabalu.
