Itinerary

Day 1Lahad Datu - Danum Valley Field Center

(8.15 am to 8.45 am – ideal pick time)

Arrive at Lahad Datu Airport by 8:30 AM and begin your journey into one of Borneo’s last untouched rainforests. After registration at the Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC) welcome center and a quick safety briefing, check in to your simple yet comfortable forest lodge. Meet your guide, settle in, and enjoy a wholesome lunch surrounded by nature.

After lunch, take some time to unwind or speak with your guide to map out your days—each step tailored to your pace and interests. In the late afternoon, head out on a gentle walk around the center. This first foray into the rainforest introduces you to the region’s incredible biodiversity—keep an eye out for orangutans, hornbills, and other native species that often wander near the lodge.

Return before sunset, then enjoy a warm dinner served at 7:00 PM. As night falls, join your guide for a nature walk under the stars and discover the forest’s nocturnal wonders—or opt for a 4×4 night safari (optional, extra cost) for a chance to encounter rare wildlife in the dark. Every moment here brings you closer to the rhythm of the wild.
