Rising to an altitude of 2,232 meters above sea level, this 4-kilometer trek offers breathtaking views of Mount Kinabalu, especially at sunrise—a moment that makes the entire journey worthwhile. The trail begins with a gradual ascent, passing through serene landscapes and crossing a river before leading you to steeper sections with a 30-degree incline. While challenging in parts, the hike is well-balanced, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty that surrounds you. The entire hike takes about six hours, offering ample time to soak in the majestic views.
For those seeking an added adventure, combine this with a hike up Sosodikon Hill. Just a short drive away, this additional trek provides yet another stunning vantage point to admire Mount Kinabalu and the surrounding landscapes. The Sosodikon hike is slightly shorter but equally rewarding, making it the perfect complement to your Maragang Hill adventure. 9 am, meet and greet at respective hotel, traverse the scenic winding road towards Kundasang where on a clear day you get to see the different faces of Mount Kinabalu. Making stops at the Nabalu native market, the Tamparuli suspension bridge and a chance to visit the Desa Cow Farm. Later have a short walk up the Sosodikon Hill, which is about 600 meter of hike for a chance of beautiful aerial photo shots of Kundasang valley.
Transferred to your lodge and rest for the evening as the next day would be an early up hike the Maragang Hill.

4.30 am, depart for Mesilau and meet up with your guide for safety briefing and start the 2 km hike up the dense vegetation. The trail is well maintain and with some steep climb, where you would need to grab on the safety rope made available. As you get to higher elevation the trail path lays a beautiful ‘bed of mosses’ surrounding it, feeling so soft and spongy. As you get to the summit of Maragang, hopefully in time for the sunrise get ready your camera for a beautiful sunrise shots from this peak. Have your pack breakfast while enjoying the breathtaking view and ready to track back down.
Back to your lodge for a brunch before departing back to Kota Kinabalu city.
