Sandakan River Safari Tour – 4 Days

Meet at Sandakan airport and transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Proceed to the orangutan feeding platform to view the orangutan feeding, following this take a visit to the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation center to get close to the world smallest bear in its natural environment.

Afternoon, second visit to the sanctuary for the afternoon feeding time. Soon after that continue to the Rainforest Discovery Centre. The Exhibition Centre & Plant Discovery Centre will bring you lots of information about the nature in the area. Take a chance to walk on a suspension bridge and ending it with the only canopy walk in Sandakan. Overnight at Sepilok Lodge.

Meals Lunch and Dinner

Following Breakfast, depart for Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, you’ll have the opportunity to observe and learn about the rehabilitation process of orphaned orangutans. Witness their playful interactions and witness the incredible work done by the dedicated staff to ensure their successful return to the wild. Be captivated by these intelligent primates as they swing through the trees and display their natural behaviors in their forested sanctuary.

Next, visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, dedicated to rehabilitating and protecting the world’s smallest bear species. Get up close to these endearing animals and gain insights into their behavior and the challenges they face in the wild. Learn about the center’s efforts to raise awareness and conserve these incredible creatures, whose playful antics will leave a lasting impression on your heart.

Proceed onwards to Bilit, Kinabatangan river. Lunch will be served upon arrival at the Bilit river lodge, after which proceed for an nature walk. At around 3.30 pm some light refreshment will be served just before embarking on the afternoon cruise to observe the wildlife along the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight at Bilit.

Wake up early and at around 6.00 am hop on the boat for an early morning cruise. Return back to the lodge for breakfast. In the late morning depart for a guided jungle walk to experience the riverine forest. Trek back to the lodge for Lunch. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the river lodge deck as you never know what you could see lurking nearby the lodge. Late afternoon, depart for another river cruise.

Breakfast. By 8.30 am depart for a visit to the Gomantong Cave to explore the largest limestone and bird nests cave in Sabah where millions of swiftlets make the cave their home. After the cave visit drive back to Sandakan City. (Gomantong Cave is still close for work maintenance, therefore the Rainforest Discovery Center visit is a substitute)
