Maragang Hill Hike & Kinabalu Park Tour

Early dawn,begin your adventure with a scenic overland drive to Mesilau, Kundasang, where the day’s journey awaits. Upon arrival at the Registration office, you’ll meet your local guide and receive an introductory briefing on safety, trail etiquette, and what to expect as you embark on this thrilling trek.

You’ll be transferred by four-wheel drive to the starting point of the trail, where your adventure truly begins. The trail to the peak, narrow and roughly cut, winds through dense vegetation and natural slopes, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience. The trek starts with a 600-meter uphill stretch of paved road, serving as a warm-up before you dive into the thick forest, where a 45-degree incline may require you to grab onto a tree branch or rope for support.

As the trail gradually levels out, you’ll traverse a romantically mossy path before the ascent continues. Along the way, take in the fresh, crisp mountain air, listen for unique bird calls, and keep an eye out for pitcher plants and other fascinating features of the trail. Don’t forget to pause at the midway viewing point for a photo stop.

As you near the summit, the trail opens to a wooden staircase that leads to the peak at 2,232 meters. Here, you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views. On clear days, the jagged peaks of Mount Kinabalu stand tall against the blue sky, while on mistier days, you might catch glimpses of the mountain through the clouds, perhaps even with a rainbow in the distance. From another vantage point, you may spot the rolling green fields of Desa Cow Farm far below. Take time to re-energize with water and snacks as you soak in the peaceful ambiance and the breathtaking scenery.

After capturing your memories in photos, you’ll descend along the same trail. Upon reaching the endpoint, you’ll be transferred back to the Registration office, where you can proudly receive your Certificate of Achievement.

Following your descent, enjoy a warm meal at a local restaurant. After lunch, take a leisurely walk through the botanical garden, where you can marvel at the diverse plant life that thrives in this unique highland environment. Finally, relax as you head back to Kota Kinabalu, arriving in the evening with a day full of unforgettable experiences.
