Imbak Canyon Wildlife Adventure 4-Days

Start your adventure by meeting at Sandakan Airport or your hotel in Sandakan at 8:00 am. From there, we’ll head to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, where you’ll witness the orangutans during their feeding time. Next, we’ll visit the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see the world’s smallest bear in its natural habitat.

After enjoying lunch, we’ll embark on a scenic 4-hour drive to Imbak Canyon Conservation Area. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and relax before dinner. Learn about the conservation area with a short video session.

Begin your day with a bird-watching session around the center. Binoculars are available for rent at the Registration Office; please arrange this a day in advance.

Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the Bambangan Dining Hall in a serene, open-air setting. Then, set out for a forest trek from the Ara Suspension Bridge along the Ara Trail to Imbak Falls. This 1.3 km trail is moderately challenging and features diverse vegetation and wildlife.

Arrive at the Kapur Suspension Bridge and start the 1.6 km Keruing Trail to the Big Belian Tree, known as “The Old Man of the Forest.” After a short rest and photos, continue on the Belian Trail to reach Imbak Falls.

Have lunch at the falls, then trek 1.3 km back to the Imbak Canyon Studies Centre. In the afternoon, hike the 3.6 km Nepenthes Trail to see the unique Nepenthes ampullaria species.

Return to your accommodation for dinner. If weather permits, join a night drive to spot nocturnal animals, or enjoy a Scientist Talk or video show if the weather is unfavorable.

Start your day with an invigorating bird-watching session. Explore the surroundings around the center to spot a variety of bird species. Binoculars are available for rent at the Registration Office if needed; please arrange this in advance with your guide.

After birding, enjoy a hearty breakfast at the Bambangan Dining Hall.

In the late afternoon, set off on a nature trail hike. Discover the diverse flora and fauna of Imbak Canyon as you trek through its lush landscapes. Your guide will point out interesting plant species and wildlife along the trail.

As evening falls, embark on a nocturnal nature walk to search for wildlife that emerges after dark. This guided walk offers a chance to see elusive nocturnal creatures and experience the rainforest’s nighttime ambiance.

Return to your accommodation for dinner and rest, reflecting on the day’s adventures.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Bambangan Dining Hall, enjoying your last meal in the tranquil setting of Imbak Canyon.

After breakfast, check out of your accommodation by 9:30 am.
