Imbak Canyon Discovery 2-Days

Start your adventure by meeting at Sandakan Airport or your hotel in Sandakan at 8:00 am. From there, we’ll head to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, where you’ll witness the orangutans during their feeding time. Next, we’ll visit the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see the world’s smallest bear in its natural habitat.

After enjoying lunch, we’ll embark on a scenic 4-hour drive to Imbak Canyon Conservation Area. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and relax before dinner. Learn about the conservation area with a short video session.

Gear up for an early morning bird-watching activity around the center, where you can observe a variety of bird species in their natural habitat. Afterward, enjoy a buffet-style breakfast in the open-air Bambangan Dining Hall, surrounded by the tranquil forest environment. Following breakfast, start your forest exploration with a short safety briefing by your guide. Begin from Ara Suspension Bridge along the Ara Trail to the renowned Imbak Falls, trekking through the 1.3 km trail and taking in the beautiful streams and virgin forest dominated by dipterocarp species. Arrive at Kapur Suspension Bridge and start the 1.6 km Keruing Trail, crossing small rivers and slopes, and seeing Shorea trees and their Dammar Gum on the ground. Reach the Big Belian Tree, rest, and take photos with this ancient giant before continuing on the easy 1.0km Belian Trail to Imbak Falls. Enjoy lunch at the iconic 39-feet-wide Imbak Falls, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the waterfall. Head back to ICSC through the main road, enjoying the rainforest scenery along the 1.3km trek. Return to the Imbak Canyon Studies Centre by early afternoon. Check out and prepare for your departure, heading to Sandakan Airport or requesting a drop-off at another hotel if you plan to continue your adventure in Sabah.
