Deramakot Wildlife Adventure 4-Days

Start your adventure by meeting at Sandakan Airport or your hotel in Sandakan at 8:00 am. From there, we’ll head to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, where you’ll witness the orangutans during their feeding time. Next, we’ll visit the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see the world’s smallest bear in its natural habitat.

After enjoying lunch, we’ll embark on a scenic 3.5-hour drive to Deramakot Forest Reserve. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and relax before dinner. At 7:00 pm, your first wildlife safari begins, offering an exciting opportunity to spot the many nocturnal animals that inhabit this lush rainforest.

Early Morning Dawn Drive:
Start your day with an early morning dawn drive at 5:30 am. As the forest wakes up, you’ll have the chance to spot various animals at their most active, including birds, primates, and other early risers. Enjoy the serene beauty of the rainforest bathed in the soft light of dawn.

Mid-Morning Leisure and Breakfast:
Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and some leisure time. You can relax, explore the surroundings, or chat with your guide about the wildlife you’ve seen so far.

Dusk Drive:
In the late afternoon, set out on a dusk drive at 4:00 pm. This is a prime time to witness the transition of the forest from day to night, catching glimpses of animals as they prepare for their evening activities. Keep an eye out for pygmy elephants, orangutans, and other wildlife.

Dinner and Rest:
After the dusk drive, return to the lodge for dinner. Relax and share your experiences with fellow travelers.

Night Drive:
At 7:00 pm, embark on an exhilarating night drive. The rainforest comes alive with nocturnal creatures such as civets, slow lorises, and perhaps even the elusive clouded leopard. Experience the unique sounds and sights of the forest after dark.

Mid-Morning Leisure and Breakfast:
Return for breakfast and some leisure time. This is an excellent opportunity to review your photos, take a nature walk around the lodge, or simply relax.

Dusk Drive:
At 4:00 pm, head out for another dusk drive. The changing light offers excellent photography opportunities, and you might encounter different species as you explore various parts of the reserve.

Dinner and Rest:
Enjoy dinner at the lodge, sharing stories and highlights of the day with your group.

Night Drive:
The night drive at 7:00 pm takes you deeper into the mystery of the rainforest. With your experienced guide, you’ll search for the nocturnal animals that make Deramakot their home.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, taking in the last moments of the serene rainforest surroundings. We will begin our journey back to Sandakan. The scenic drive offers a final chance to appreciate the beauty of Sabah’s landscapes. We will drop you off at Sandakan Airport for your onward flight or at your hotel if you plan to stay in Sandakan.
