There are a few different types of accommodation available on the mountain, ranging from basic dormitories to luxurious lodges. One of the most popular lodges on Mount Kinabalu is the Pendant Hut, which is located at an altitude of 3,289 meters. Are you a fitness enthusiast seeking an adrenaline rush? Look no further than the Low’s Peak Circuit (LPC) on Mount Kinabalu! Experience this majestic mountain like never before by traversing through a series of obstacle activities on this thrilling adventure. You’ll be mesmerized by the stunning beauty of the mountain plateau along the way, with plenty of rest stops at scenic locations for photo opportunities.
The LPC is not for the faint of heart – it’s designed for those with excellent fitness levels who are seeking an exciting challenge. The activities take approximately 4-5 hours to complete and cover a length of 1,100 meters. At an altitude of 3,776 meters above sea level, the LPC via ferrata is one of the world’s highest via ferratas, offering breathtaking views that will take your breath away.
The highlight of the LPC is reaching the highest point of the activity, which is at an elevation of 3,776 meters above sea level – a true test of your climbing abilities! The French grading difficulty is AD, which means it’s fairly hard with steep climbing. If you’re up for the challenge, the Low’s Peak Circuit via Ferrata activity is the perfect way to experience Mount Kinabalu in a whole new way.
Via Ferrata Route Mount Kinabalu FAQ Facilities
Between 6:15 am to 6:30 am get pick up from your hotel at Kota Kinabalu and journey about 2 hours drive towards Kinabalu National Park Headquarter for registration. Please bring along your original passport (for International travelers) and Original MyKad Identification (for Malaysian) for verification during registration.
Meet up with your mountain guide after registration and you will be given a Climbing ID Tag, which you are required to wear throughout the hike. Remember to collect your packed lunch (inform us upon making your reservation should you have dietary restrictions). Later get transferred by the National Park shuttle to Timpohon Gate, to start your 6 km hike up to Pendant Hut.
Upon arrival at Pendant Hut, attend the mandatory via ferrata safety briefing at 3.30 pm (missed out on this briefing, you are not entitled to join the via ferrata activity the next day. Enjoy the stunning view from the mountain area while waiting for dinner, which is served in Laban Rata at 4.30 pm.
Meals Pack Lunch & Dinner
At 1.30 am and gear up, after taking your supper start the remaining 2.85 km journey with your mountain guide towards the Summit of Low’s Peak that is the highest point standing at 4095.2 meters.
*Reminder that for the safety of climber, Sabah Park has a cut-off time for the Sayat-Sayat Check Point at 5.30 am those arrived after 5.30 am will not allowed to proceed with summit climb.
Watch and enjoy the spectacular shades of the sunrise over the majestic Mount Kinabalu. Take turns at the Low’s Peak summit for photos, always pay close attention to your safety when at the summit plateau. Next, head to the starting point of the LPC via Ferrata (intermediate via ferrata, French grade AD) meet your via ferrata trainer at the 7.5 km mark. All climbers must arrive at the Via Ferrata starting point before 6.30 am, climber who miss the cut-off time will not be allowed on the Via Ferrata.
Later descend back to the Pendant Hut for a well earned breakfast. Check out and hike down to Timpohon Gate where the shuttle will take you to the National Park, collect your well deserve certificate. Our transfer will take you back to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu or at Kundasang.
