What are the differences between the lodging in Danum Valley?
Danum Valley Field Center – Referred to as DVFC, is 2 hours drives from Lahad Datu town. Options of lodging here are the dormitory (with specific block for male and female), chalet and camping ground. Basic toilet amenities, chalet comes with ensuite bathroom and all meals are available from the main restaurant. Those staying at the dormitory can opt to cook for themselves as there’s a kitchen made available for the dormitory blocks.
Borneo Rainforest Lodge – Famously known as BRL, it is about 2.5 hours drive from Lahad Datu town, the lodges here are an essense of jungle indulgence. From tastefully designed rooms to lavish food, the environmental-friendly boutique jungle lodge is for those willing to pay for a 5 star services deep in a rainforest. Some of the highlights at Borneo Rainforest Lodge are the Coffin Cliff trail, and its iconic canopy walkway.
How do I get to Danum Valley?
Danum Valley is located in Lahad Datu, and flights can be taken from Kota Kinabalu Airport to Lahad Datu airport. Then it will take about 2.5 hours to get to Danum Valley from Lahad Datu on gravel road. Alternatively, options to drive either from Kota Kinabalu to Lahad Datu is possible which will take about 8 hours, or from Tawau to Lahad Datu, which is 1.5 hours. Road condition is fairly good, with some road areas being maintained.
Is Danum Valley suitable for families?
Yes, Danum Valley is a great experience, especially for the young ones to learn about nature and conservation. Nature trail walk varies from easy walk to long walk are open for trekkers to make the choice.
What are the activities in Danum Valley?
